Okapi, okapi, okapi! How I love thee, okapi.
Just look at this bay-bee okapi, born at the Brookfield Zoo in the west suburbs of Chicago:
Adorable!

Useless okapi trivia: earlier this year I was pleased to hear scientists had evidence of surviving okapis in Congo’s Virunga National Park (near the tripartite border with Rwanda and Uganda) where okapis had been believed extinct since 1959, despite the refugee crises and civil wars in the area since then.
Oh, cool! Okapi for peace! Okapi my kapi.
Gosh, it is SUCH a fun word to say. Okapi okapi OKAPI! In the Congo! Okapi in the Congo!
Too much coffee. Sorry. 🙂
Hey! I read what you had to say over at Aunt B’s place and added you. I almost never actually post over here at LJ, I just use it to read my friendslist mainly, but I’d be mighty honored if you added me back. 😀
Wow…that was bad.
Thanks for the add! Right backatcha.
