How much do I love this video? I don’t even think I can quantify it. Dawkins had me at “You’re an atheist about all those other gods; some of us just take it one god further.”

Major kudos to both Colbert and Dawkins for the intelligent design (ha) of this debate.

Very nice 🙂 I’ve been a fan of Dawkins for a long time, ever since I read The Selfish Gene. Gonna have to go get this one from the library soon.

You posted it twice, by the way.

Damn, I am number 22 on the waiting list for that book at the local library. Guess I’ll go buy it.

The double-posting thing is irritating — I can’t believe how long it took to show up!

Anyway, yeah, I’ll have to read some of his stuff. Very cool.

Apparently Colbert does actually believe in God, go to church, and he even teaches Sunday school.

Wow, interesting! I looked around for more about that and found this blog entry with an excerpt of the transcript of his interview with Terry Gross on NPR’s Fresh Air:

Mr. COLBERT: This Week in God is–you know, This Week in God is, for me, a tightrope, because I–while I’m, you know, not a particularly religious person, I do go to church, which makes me kind of odd for my profession. You know, most people can’t understand why I do, other comedians.

It makes me respect him all the more for allowing his own faith to be confronted and disputed on his show.

Kinda goes along the lines of “those who [insert choice of religious belief] are usually the most qualified to poke fun at [aforementioned religious belief]”, eh?
