This is interesting. I’ve known about online chat for technical support for a long time, but I’ve never had occasion to use it until now. Quicken is giving me trouble, so I’m chatting with one of their support folks.

It’s a little impersonal (I usually strike up a good banter with tech support people on the phone), but pretty efficient. I’m kind of digging it. 🙂

I’ve had mixed experiences with online chat for tech support, but mostly I love it for the immediacy of it. The time I was most dissatisfied with it, there was a language difference and a big lag between what I typed and the response. It was obvious there was translation involved, as well as canned responses that didn’t fit my questions. That was extremely annoying.

    Mostly tho, it rocks.

My experiences with chat-based tech support have been pretty universally good, too. I’ve been surprised.

Compared to the usual 10-30 minutes on hold with tech support, I’m pretty fond of it, too.

There might be a possibility to extend this sort of chatting into more * personal * arenas.

    Oh. Wait.
