I’m sitting here at Metropolis Coffee Company in Chicago, enjoying the delicious coffee and free WiFi, but not so much enjoying the snooty and superior attitude of the staff. Whatever. They’re just lucky their coffee is so good.
I’ll be here for another few hours and then I’ll go meet my mom and sister and whoever else they’ve rounded up for dinner (at Dick’s Last Resort!?!, I think — I have no idea why) and then drinks.
Hope everyone has a great weekend planned!
In Chicago!
Oh my god, dick’s last resort…how…..touristy. ha
I havnt been there since after the Junior Prom. They sell spikey condoms in the bathroom.
I know, right? Yeesh.
Spiky condoms, eh? Will have to remember to bring coins so I can stock up.
Ah, I love Chicago. Enjoy yourself, and just ignore the snooty staff!
i think seeing that might be what pushed me over the edge towards being bi. And do you prefer their snobby coffee to intelligensia? those guys pull a mean crema design.
Dick’s pushed you over the edge? Or the spiky condoms? Or both? 🙂
Intelligentsia has long been my favorite coffee evAR, but this stuff is seriously good. Even as the latter half of my cup was getting cold, it still tasted amazingly good. Now that‘s good coffee!
So where are you today?
Yeah, me too. Thanks!
I should add: as good as it is, if I lived here but I didn’t live on the far north side, I don’t think I would travel way the hell up here to get their coffee. It’s good, but it’s not a revelation worth a half-hour el ride.
I live over here http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=W+Grand+Ave+%26+N+Ogden+Ave,+Chicago,+IL+60622&ll=41.891608,-87.659054&spn=0.029838,0.106859
its my day off, so im getting intelligensia coffee, working out at crunch gym, turning in my ipod for repair at the apple store on michigan ave., and fridays usually end in Wicker Park;) Im sure youll be having a wild time with your mom but if you want to meet up later, im game.
xoxo
Robin: pushed over the edge by dicks.
Oh, OK — you’re not too terribly far from where I’ll be heading shortly. I’m supposed to meet my mom and sister at the ’50s McDonalds in what I have long referred to (affectionately, of course) as Tourist Trap Central.
Wicker Park sounds potentially feasible — that’s my old ‘hood anyway. (Well, East Village, really, but very close to the Wicker Park edge.) If you shoot me an email at lj @ honeybowtie . com, we can exchange cell phone numbers just in case.
Have a good coffee and workout!
yay for chicago coffe shops! *jealous* HAVE FUN this weekend! 🙂
Yeah, yay for good coffee, but boo for bad behavior. Bongo Java (either location) wins big points for having good coffee AND friendly employees.
HAVE FUN this weekend!
And thanks! You too.
