“Hey Enid, the atheists are decorating for Christmas again.”
We have a Christmas shirt hanging in our living room! Complete with ornaments and garland! I’ll bet it’s the best Christmas shirt any of you have ever seen.
Also, we have oddball Christmas decorations picked up at various thrift stores, like a two-headed reindeer metallic candelabra.
But on the outside of the house, we opted for classic and timeless, to match the historic look. It’s cute! It’s festive! And even though I think we’re the only atheists on the block, we’re the first ones to have our Christmas lights up. What’s that all about?! Get with the Christmas program, people!
I’m thinking of making one room all Hanukkah decorations. Maybe the kitchen, since the accent color is cobalt blue anyway. Yeah. If I happen to find any Hanukkah decorations at thrift stores, that is.
La di da. Back to work.
How dare you mock this fine pagan holiday?!
Love. The. Icon.
(In a seven hundred dollar suit? Come on!)
So sad to think of Arrested Development going bye-bye.
Huh. Hanukkah– not so much about the decorations, but I suppose you could find some festive menorah decorations, and maybe have a Hanukkah bush. Are you going to have a Kwanzaa motif as well?
Yeah, searching eBay doesn’t turn up much of interest.
(I love the dreidel earrings, though. One can be kitschy in any culture, I suppose.)
The law office I just interviewed at had a string of dreidle lights around the receptionist’s window. They were pretty funky.
Last night’s episode was the hardest I’ve laughed in a long
long
time. Dog bless those people and their lovely show.
Okay, those earring are great. I think that kitsch is a human universal.
Will there be pictures?
I read a website a few years ago about someone putting up pagan decorations in their yard. Mostly fairly normal stuff, holly, misteltoe, tree, etc. But instead of a nativity scene they had built and put up a lighted life-sized diorama of the chasing of the winter king and subsequent sacrifice. Apparently it got quite a lot of complaints.
(I can’t find a referrence to it, so this is all from years old memory. Sorry if it’s not entirely accurate. The story remains the same.)
OMG, you’re HERE! How did I not know you had a LiveJournal before now? How did we not swap info on this ages ago?
Glad to have you around!
If there’s an evening when it’s not completely freeeeezing outside, I’ll be happy to take some pics of the outside. And next time I’m home in the daylight, I’ll take a pic of the inside. 🙂
Sssshh….ninja skillz, yo!

Snow Penis!
That’s HI-larious.
This made me laugh. 🙂 Anyhoo, in looking to add a few new friends to my list, I stumbled across your LJ doing a search of common interests. Hope you don’t mind if I add you! I’ve been really lazy about updating lately, but I do read and comment more than I actually post. Feel free to add me back if you’d like, of course.
Welcome to my weird world. 🙂 I’m afraid you’ll mostly find angst here lately as I get through grieving over my father’s death in November. But glad to have you on board anyway.
I’m terribly sorry about the loss of your father. It was heartbreaking to read about–I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you right now. So definitely, no worries about angsty entries. I’m glad to be here.
