I feel very disconnected with LJ and email lately — I’ve barely been able to keep up. I apologize to everyone for not reading enough to know what’s going on in your lives. I’ll catch up soon, I’m sure.

In the meantime, work is tough — two of my colleagues and my boss are all on vacation this week, we have a new director (the former Boss’s Boss and the new director were assigned to a permanent job swap, with very interesting results for our team), my project manager is getting ready to go on a month-long vacation, we have interns coming in who need to be ramped up and made productive, and a big governance issue that’s very stressful as it requires me to be the bad cop.

But I have a new Treo 650, and I love it! And the cats are settled into the house, and Karsten is very kindly finishing up the move from the apartment to the house without my help. There’s only a little bit left over there, mostly books and artwork, and he will probably have it all here by the end of today and the place cleaned by the end of tomorrow. And then we’re DONE with that apartment, thank the gods.

The house is coming along. I took some quick pictures this morning [edited] and they’re on flickr with a few descriptive comments if anyone wants to see them.

There’s more to say, but I’m too tired to get into any details about any of it. Maybe more later, if time permits.

It’s been a while…

Poor Kate. I can’t even imagine trying to do all the house stuff you’re doing during a time when work is busy.

If you’re too exhausted to post words, pictures would be very welcome (once you figure out how to get them off the Treo, that is). You know how the “blog this” function at flickr works, right?

Caught me just as I was editing! I did figure out how to get the pics off the Treo, and they’re up on flickr. Thank you. 🙂

    Excellent!

If you want to include a picture in the entry itself, you can also set up the “blog this” function to include either a thumbnail or a medium-sized shot directly in your livejournal. Kind of like, um, this.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll be sure to play with that later. I was also thinking about going “pro” on flickr so I can have more sets. Do you enjoy your pro status? Would you recommend it?

I really enjoy it. With a free membership, only 100 of your pictures are visible or something like that, but with pro all of them get to stay up. I don’t use anywhere near the monthly bandwidth they offer, but it’s good to know it’s there if I want it. Plus they’re a *great* little organization, all smart and open-source and stuff. Like livejournal.

Oof. Not your favorite life role ever. Sorry to hear that. I’m certain, however, that you’ll pull off what’s necessary with your usual grace and efficiency.

The house looks great! I’m particularly struck by the painted closets and the den/catroom, both of which have changed greatly since I was there in April. Go, team!

Missing you. Snugs to Karsten and cautious strokes to the kitten clan.

Thanks! They’ve got a lot of character, that’s for sure. I think they’re going to look fantastic once we get someone in there to sand and refinish them.

Not my favorite life role, no, but I do it better than Doug, who fortunately plays good cop very well. We make a good team. Possibly too good. Allegedly, people we confront resign later that day.

Re: the house, thanks! We’ve been slacking a little the last week or so just out of need for rest, but this weekend should be super-productive.

When are you back in town? I want to be sure to see you, if you’re available.

If you have them sanded, expect them to get a lot lighter, especially if they have a lot of wear.

had her floors sanded and refinished a few months ago. The previous tenants were smokers and pet owners. The floors were a rich brown and are now a lustrous amber. It’s incredible, really.

Our floors are in good shape, luckily. No refinishing or sanding needed for many years. I love hardwood.

Wow. That’s some superpower you’ve got there, darlin’. You should start a business: Rent-a-Resigner.

Given your standards for activity and achievement, I’m thinking “slacking” probably = “not working ourselves quite into the grounds, thanks”, and so am somewhat fearful of your weekend’s projected super-productivity. Do breathe occasionally!

I don’t know yet when I’m back in town, but totally want to connect with you if it’s at all possible. If memory serves, you’re away most June weekends – is that still true?

We’re away the weekend of the 10th-12th and possibly the following weekend, but in town for the others. Keep us posted! 🙂
