Edit: 15 guessed, 10 to go! Who else is going to play? 🙂

1. On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty-five songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing).
2. Write down one (or two) line(s) of the song. Try to avoid lines that include the title.
3. Have your friends comment and see if they know the songs.
4. When someone guesses correctly, strike out the line and list the correct name of the song next to it.

I kept getting songs Karsten and I wrote. That’s not really fair to my friends list, even though I know some of you have heard the songs. I’m skipping them.

These all come from my workout mix (I know that’ll seem odd, with some of them, but I like to have a variety of tempos and moods when I’m working out — it helps keep things interesting).

    7. Black-Eyed Peas – Where is the Love
19 and 20 are Tori, can’t think of the titles at the moment ^_^

    Sorry, one more ^_~
    22 is Garbage – I Think I’m Paranoid

  • December 14, 2004 at 10:14 pm

    24 is Cake, “Comfort Eagle.”

  • December 14, 2004 at 11:07 pm

I think 9 is “Ready to Ride” by the Dixie Chicks. I could be wrong.

  • December 15, 2004 at 6:20 am

Yep, yep, and yep yep 🙂 but I need the titles. 🙂

  • December 15, 2004 at 6:23 am

Nope! But I dunno, there may be similar lyric in that one — I don’t know it. I’ll give an additional hint on that one: “If you knew now what you knew then…”

If that doesn’t ring a bell, you probably don’t know this particular song.

  • December 15, 2004 at 6:26 am

I’ll give you a hint on the title of 20: it’s one of her most bizarre titles, which is really saying something. 😉

  • December 15, 2004 at 10:49 am

I cheated and looked it up since it was bothering me. ^_~ So now I can’t guess it ^_~

  • December 15, 2004 at 11:54 am

    2. Tim McGraw “She’s My Kind of Rain”
    3. Kenny Chesney “The Good Stuff”
    8. Rascal Flatts “I Melt”

  • December 15, 2004 at 5:28 pm

    Yep, yep, yep.

Actually, given the ones you guessed, I’m surprised you didn’t get #11 and #13.

  • December 15, 2004 at 6:29 pm

Okay, see, I did in fact surf by this entry earlier – because I always read you, and because this is a music meme, which, just, yay.

However. This is also a lyrics meme. Et moi, je suck at lyrics memes. So much so that (yes) one of the reasons I did one on my LJ was so I could feel smart because I knew all the songs.

Sad. I know. You don’t have to say so.

Also odd, I think, since I’m such a Verbal Grrl. But with music my lizardbrain takes over, and my lizardbrain likes beats and melodies and percussion and basslines, and it tends to gloss over all those wordy sorts of things.

So. I just want you to know that I am NOT ignoring this post, and that I plan to check back lots to see what’s been guessed. I’m just not guessing any myself, because…well, because I don’t know any of them. Sigh.

(Not sure of your thoughts on posting mp3s of any/all of these once guessed/not guessed. ?)

  • December 15, 2004 at 7:49 pm

Eh, I don’t like the idea of posting MP3s, but I’ll be more than happy to burn you a CD if you’d like any of these songs. Or any of the songs in my library, for that matter. But I have 8606 clips indexed in RealPlayer, so I’ll refrain from trying to list what I have. 🙂

And guessing lyrics isn’t easy — these words are completely out of context.

  • December 16, 2004 at 7:44 pm

    20. “i i e e e” – Tori Amos
    23. “Taxi Ride” – Tori Amos

It isn’t obvious that I adore Tori’s work or anything, is it? 😉

  • December 16, 2004 at 7:50 pm

heh.. for some reason I had to read through the list twice to notice these…

    14. “Sugar” – Tori Amos
    18. “Overprotected” – Britney Spears

  • December 16, 2004 at 10:09 pm

Ack… your reply made me read through here again and I’ve been looking at all this for 10 minutes or so– I figured out a couple more, I think.

    6. “Matter of Minutes” – Shawn Colvin
    13. “Cry” – Faith Hill
    16. “In My Place” – Coldplay

Ok I’m done, I swear! ha

  • December 17, 2004 at 6:26 am

Hee! Yep, yep, and yep. Hey, I’m glad someone is still playing. 🙂

  • December 20, 2004 at 11:16 am

Eh, I don’t like the idea of posting MP3s

“No artists were harmed in the making of this mix CD!”

but I’ll be more than happy to burn you a CD if you’d like any of these songs.

Ooh. Yes, please. At your leisure. If you think this is a reasonably representative sampling, then bring ’em on. (But NO hurry.)

    When are y’all taking off?
