The bird is free! He (she? How do you sex a chick, anyway? No, wait, smartasses – don’t answer that.) must have made his way out of the wall overnight. He was sitting on the floor in the basement this morning, so I wrapped him in a towel and took him outside where he hobbled into a patch of vinca. I have no idea if he’s injured or just can’t fly yet, and no idea if he’ll survive outdoors, but at least now he’s where he should have been all along.
And I can stop being upset about the poor thing.

Oh YAY! That totally makes my day. 🙂
Aw, thanks for posting that! Oddly enough, around and under a crazy-stressful day, I was also kind of worried about that little bird, and I’m glad to hear he made it back outside.
Oh, that is great news!
yay!
Awesome. Our birds didn’t fall into the wall but they have tried to use the backyard as a practice airstrip. Unfortunately, our dog LaFawnduh thinks that anything that is small, moves, and makes noise is a toy… so I’ve had to spend the last few days rescuing my feathered friends from the clutches of a very playful canine.
Mister Nashville
Something tells me this fellow is a survivor…
I’m so glad he’s free!
