I’m cancelling the cruise. I had to ask a whole bunch of coworkers if anyone had any PTO to donate to cover my time away with my parents, and even if everything were crystal clear by the end of September, it would still feel really wrong to use someone else’s PTO while I’m on a cruise.

But the good news is, quite a few people responded to the request for PTO, and I should be free to spend as much time as needed in Park Forest. People can be so generous when the occasion demands, and I’m always glad to see that side of people. It was tough to ask, but I’m glad I did.

I plan to leave Thursday morning to head back up to Park Forest, and will likely be there for a few weeks.

That definitely sounds like a good plan.

How great that there were so many people willing to help you out. People can really come through sometimes.

Innit? I’ve definitely been feeling humbled by the outpouring of support. I hope I get a chance to return the kindness, although I certainly don’t wish this situation on anyone. Life has a way of presenting plenty of challenges, though, and when it does, I hope to be in a position to repay those who helped me out, as well as “pay it forward” to others.

OMG, you crack me up. Donate to a cruise… mmmm that could make it a tad bit tougher to give up one’s PTO.
I’m saving up for Karlis’ next visit. But I’m totally going to check my amount anyhow. Do you have enough? I bet Gibbles as a shitload.
