We went to a fundraiser in our neighborhood on Sunday afternoon where, among other discoveries, we found out that hit songwriter Gretchen Peters lives down the street from us (although we’re not sure exactly which house).

So out of idle curiosity, I checked Amazon for her recordings (I have one of her CDs already) and found that she has a song on a recent CD called “Germantown” — the name of our neighborhood.

I’m really itching to hear this song now, but I don’t want to spend $30 for the import CD (or even $25 for a used copy). I guess I’ll have to remain curious for a while.

The Canadian iTunes store is different from the American one, so I don’t have access to what you see, but have you thought about checking there? Maybe you can just buy the one track.

I just checked iTunes for it, but no dice. That was a good idea, though. I always forget about that option. 🙂

Gosh, I can’t believe the things I don’t think of. Thanks! I just placed a bid.

I don’t have nearly enough energy for that level of paying attention at the moment. If I win, I win; if not, no biggie. 🙂

I’ve been thinking (always a dangerous activity) and maybe you could get a dog so you’d have an excuse to be walking past her house twice a day. Eventually you’re sure to run into her and I’m sure she must have a copy for a fan. 🙂

    Heh! Interesting plan!

I do run in the neighborhood quite a bit, but it’s usually so early in the morning, I don’t stand much of a chance of seeing anyone. Although I did just meet a neighbor today who said she saw me out running one morning and I was “blazing fast!” Which is crazy — I’m a really slow runner, especially lately. I think she was just being nice. But still, it made an impression, so I could hope that Ms. Peters is a morning person and that she’ll eventually see me running in the mornings.

(I know: a music person who’s a morning person? Such a thing probably doesn’t exist.)
