I was just getting into the park this morning when I saw two of the more seasoned runners heading out. We chatted for a minute, and they invited me to join them. I thought they were just being polite, so I (politely) demurred, saying I would never be able to keep up. “So just start out with us and drop out when you need to!”

So I did. And we ran for an hour, all through downtown, Music Row, and back through the park to the office. It was hilly, they were running fast, and I was mostly able to keep up. Yay!

I even learned the most useful counteraction for stitch anyone has taught me yet: bend all the way over at the waist and breathe deeply. Somehow it worked. I had to do it several times to keep up with those grandmas (they are! they’re amazing!) but I did what I had to do and only in the last half-mile did I allow myself to fall back and walk/jog back inside.

The hills just about killed me, but we were running portions of the actual Country Music Marathon course, so that sure was good training.

And I’m feeling really good right now. My knees will probably be aching by tonight, but for now I’m flying. 🙂

Great run!

That *is* the best remedy for a stitch I ever learned.

In other news, I think *you* are the first person who’s managed to get boy to listen to country pop *willingly*. Yet he makes faces when he walks in and finds me watching CMT. 😉 (It’s the top 20 fashion videos–of COURSE I’m watching it…)
